Drop and Wave - Brave Yourself
We need space and opportunities to realize ourselves, to boldly be exactly who we want to be and to celebrate our own body.
From this idea Drop and Wave was born - the online store, which every product helps us stand out, dress spectacularly and boldly, just the way we want.
Behind Drop and Wave are the passionate e-commerce entrepreneurs Päivi and Jesse. Päivi's background as a twerk dancer and our shared passion to develop the Finnish e-commerce culture in a more communal direction led to the idea of a new online store. We wanted to bring the products of several different entrepreneurs together, also in terms of products aimed at performers and dancers.
Bold, spectacular and distinctive - everything for self-expression
The entrepreneurs' common interest in spectacular and daring dressing and breaking stereotypes has given impetus to the growth of Drop and Wave's product range. Drop and Wave's values are reflected in every Drop and Wave product - Bold, spectacular, distinctive - everything for self-expression. Drop and Wave is all that.
Drop and Wave's products are designed to suit as many different bodies and minds as possible. We want to develop constantly, so we are happy to hear feedback about the products of the online store and that they certainly fulfill our values in the opinion of the public as well.
Dance and performance led the way
In the beginning, the design of the product range reflected a lot of dance and related accessories. We wanted to offer accessories suitable for twerking, for example, and together with the company Picla we designed completely new products for dancers and performers. However, the intention was in no way, or still is, to limit the scope of online store products to performers only.
As always when building an online store, we also had to come up with a name for the online store. Here, too, the dance background came into play and the name of the online store was formed from two movements performed with our body: Droppaus, i.e. "dropping" the body on, for example, the thighs, and Wave, i.e. a wave or, for example, spinning the body.
We joined forces with the wonderful graphic designer Milja Päivärinna, who designed a logo that looks just like us! That's how the journey to building a look like Drop and Wave began.
There are already almost 20 companies involved
Cooperation with other entrepreneurs creates tangible synergy benefits and opportunities. There are already many actors in Finland who produce wonderful, distinctive and bold accessories and clothes - our task is to bring these actors together under one roof.
Drop and Wave already includes almost 20 different companies, thanks to which Drop and Wave's great product selection has been created and is constantly being developed. We are also ready to involve new partners flexibly throughout the year. What is important to us is that entrepreneurs do not see each other as competitors, but as a network, the power of which acts as a springboard for all of us towards success!
Here at Drop and Wave, suppliers don't just deliver products, but together form the Drop and Wave family. And the above already brings tears to the corners of the eyes when you think about how many entrepreneurs trusted us and joined the new online store even before its opening! Thank you!
